Bentley Aims For Greener, More Exquisite Limos

Bentley, Volkswagen's luxury car division, aims to produce more environment-friendly limousines and make them extra exquisite. You think the goal is overly ambitious? I don’t think so.

With the escalating competition in the limo industry, automakers have to develop new strategies to maintain their clientele without losing the hope of gaining more. As such, the German automaker is not just enhancing the Volkswagen expansion tank but its entire lineup as well.

Bentley wants to make its models more environmentally friendly and to edge closer to proposed EU limits, the financial daily Handelsblatt recently reported, citing Bentley head Franz-Josef Paefgen. "We are currently forming a view on the matter, for instance by talking to politicians in England," Paefgen told the newspaper in an interview. "And when the view is complete, we will decide in spring 2008 what to do."

But Paefgen cautioned that nobody should expect the company to build a relatively small three-liter car. Bentley's powerful models traditionally consume large amount of fuel, with the Coupe Continental GT guzzling an average of more than 17 liters of fuel per 100. The car emits around 396 grams of CO2 per kilometer. The figure is far beyond the proposed EU regulation limiting CO2 emissions to 120 grams per kilometer by 2012.

Paefgen also wanted the luxury automaker to reach annual unit sales of 10,000 vehicles for the first time in 2007, helped by an 18% gain in unit sales during the first six months of this year, the newspaper added.

Bentley limousines have long been associated with splendor. To witness the company’s grandeur, enter Exquisite Limos. It has two in service. The limo company, which opened recently, was inspired by similar operations in California and New Jersey. This was the statement of Joel Reyes, who owns and operates the service with his wife, Maralana. The company features a 1952 Bentley R=type, and a 1963 Bentley S-3, along with two Lincoln stretch Towncars.

Exquisite Limos employs 30 drivers, who are trained to operate the classic vehicles. "With the Bentleys being 40 to 50 years old, it takes a little more training than usual," he said.

According to the Tulsa World, the couple also own and manage Exquisite Valet, and Joel Reyes said they started the limo service "because Tulsa has been a good city for start-up companies."  "We decided to go with the vintage vehicles versus new limosuines because it is different," he said. "Not many people think of classic vehicles as limousines, but we are trying to change that."

Joel Reyes stressed that the only difference between the Bentleys and the stretch limos "is that it is a more intimate setting for the persons riding." "After finally riding in a vehicle, we get great raves from the clients," he noted. "Whether totally impressed by the vehicle itself, or just knowing that they are riding in luxury, most clients love the experience."

Exquisite Limos is managed by Anthony Harwell. For more queries, call 481-2070, or visit the company's Web site at www.tulsaworld.com/elimos

A Limo To Wrap Up A Perfect Wedding

Planning a perfect wedding is hard. Though, the term “perfect wedding” isn’t politically correct. Many couples still dream of having a perfect wedding, as they say it. It means they don’t want their tying of the knot to be chaotic, cluttered, and undesirable.

For those who want to make their coupling a “perfect” one plan early on.  There’s no better antidote to ill-fated wedding ceremony than preparation. Trust me. Been there. Done that.

Plan the details - the venue, time, officiating officer, dress, foods, cake, and bouquet – and oh, don’t forget the limo. Never let a detail spoil your big day!

So how do you get started on finding the perfect wedding limo? Robert Reno has shared some tips. Robert offers wedding reception entertainment and also accommodates private parties, and high school proms.

Robert says:

- Determine who will ride in the limo and add the list to your wedding planner; allowing extra space for dresses that need to be spread out to avoid wrinkling.

- Check your area for Michigan wedding limousines in your area.

- Contact desirable transportation companies and make arrangements to view the vehicles you are considering, making sure to check interiors as well as exteriors.

- Make inquiries about the chauffeurs; are they licensed insured, well versed in etiquette? Do they know the area in which the wedding will take place? Are they uninformed?

- Check the fee schedule – is price based on hours of service or distance or both? Is there a minimum? Are there package deals or discounts available and what do they include?

- Once you have decided which of the Michigan wedding limousines to go with, make sure your contract shows the date of service, arrival times and locations, the color, make, model and year of the rental vehicle as well as the cost and the cancellation policy.

- Be prepared to tender a deposit to reserve the vehicle; confirm reservation the week before your wedding.

These tips above will help you with planning the wedding of your dreams. Make sure all the details are arranged prior to and that you have specified in detail on the contract what is expected. Once again congratulations and enjoy your special celebration.

Official State Limousines

Do you have any idea who has the most prestigious and luxurious limousine in the world? Who else? Of course, the head or leaders of the state! Wherever country you visit, you can always spot government officials riding in a classy vehicle, and most of them are limousines! If you were given the chance to be the president of your country, what type of limousine do you want? If you’re going to ask me, I’ll go for a bullet-proofed H3 HUMMER limo! Isn’t that cool or what?!

Let’s get to know some of the vehicles used by a few of the world’s greatest leaders. Check this out!

Denmark

The Queen Margrethe II of Denmark uses her 1958 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith seven seater LGLW 25 body no. 10181 commonly referred to as Store Krone (Great Crown). It was purchased by her father, Frederick IX of Denmark. The coachbuilder and seller was Hooper & Co. (Coachbuilder) Ltd. 54 St. James Street, Picadilly, London S.W.1.Kronebilerne. In addition, she uses several lesser cars for more common occasions. Noteworthy are Krone (Crown) 1, 2 and 5, which are all Daimler DS420 "Limousines" Eight Seaters of year 1970, 1989 (purchased 1994 with 1500 km) and 1986.

Australia

The Prime Minister of Australia is often seen in a Holden Caprice, a saloon. Unlike his overseas counterparts, he is frequently seen in the front passenger's seat.

Japan

The official state car is presently used by His Imperial Majesty Emperor Akihito. It is a specially prepared Toyota Century, a $500,000 custom car. It stretches around 20 feet in length and 6.5 feet across, with extra amenities such as bulletproofing and a granite entryway. The vehicle is the only Japanese product to use a V12 engine, either for domestic or international use.

United Kingdom

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom travels in a state Bentley Arnage. The vehicle is equipped with a twin-turbocharged unit. The 6.75 litre V8 engine has been customized from Bentley's Arnage R version to produce 400 hp and 616 ft•lbf of torque. Maximum speed is 130 mph. The royal state limousine is three feet longer than a standard Bentley Arnage, 10 inches taller and six inches wider. It is equipped with broad suicide doors, which are hinged at the rear and open almost 90 degrees.

United States

The president of the United States of America takes a trip in an armored Cadillac limousine. The vehicle was specially made by a team once known as the O'Gara, Hess and Eisenhart which was founded in Fairfield, Ohio in 1942. They are great in specializing armored limousines for presidents and heads of states.

The Armored Mercedes S600 Guard Limo

We all look at limousines as cars for wealthy people, or maybe a car for someone who has a great role in our society like the President or the Prime Minister. So I guess it is just but right for car makers to add safety features on limousines just like what Mercedes-Benz gave to its S600 Guard Limo.

People had been very interested during the Bucharest International Auto Show 2007 (SIAB 2007) to see the very first S600 Guard armored limousine in Romania, as reported by Rompres. The MSRP of the new armored limousine from Mercedes stands at EUR 383,000 not including VAT.

The new S600 Guard is complete with maximum level of protection for the armored cars (B6-B7). The new car actually can protect you from small caliber firearms as well as guns, handguns, 7.62 51 mm caliber machineguns, hand grenades and dynamite. The MRSP of the new car is actually EUR 200,000 higher than the price of the commercialized standard version according to Nine O’Clock. According to Mercedes Car Group brand manager Valeriu Zaharia, “Until now there is no demand from Romania.”

He also said that, “In 2005-2006 we sold 4 S-Klasse armored limousines for Governmental institutions in Romania.” According to the sources, these cars were delivered from the Internal Affairs Ministry and the Security and Protection Service (SPP). The Mercedes Car Group brand manager said that they have no market for this type of vehicle. He also commented saying, “Romania is a too democratic country to have a market for armored cars.”

The company offers the armored cars Mercedes E-Klasse that has a B4-B5 level of protection towards handguns and guns, as well as B6-B7 level of protection for the E-Klasse armored cars. The German car maker is estimating 2,100 units this year and 2,400 units for next year.

How Does Limo Brokering Put You In Danger? Limos.com Tells You

I haven’t come up with a fresh limousine update, so this time, I just want to give some notes on how limo brokering puts you at risk. I got this piece of advice from the number one reliable source all about limos, Limos.com!

So now I’m going to leave you with these useful notes and don’t worry because next time, you’ll be hearing a lot about limos from me! Right now I just have to take care of my Saturn splash shield and continue researching for limo updates just for you! Have fun!

According to Limos.com, dealing with a limo-broker is like gambling. Here's how it works:

  • A reservation clearinghouse, or internet dealer, doesn't possess their own vehicles. They simply get your reservation and nurture it out to a nearby based limo company. They efficiently loose management over your job, sending you at risk once this is finished.
  • For example, lets say you made a reservation with "1800BookALimoFast" for an airport arrival in Boston.
  • 1800BookALimoFast jobs out your reservation to a local company in Boston, say, A-1Boston Limo. If A-1Boston can't accept the job, they call-on another one of their "affiliates" - yes, your reservation is shuffled from company to company until a local company can accept it. You may not get the limo or the service you expected.
  • The total price you pay is above market. Hidden in the price is a broker premium. This premium could tack on as much as 20% more than regular price than if you dealt direct with A-1 Boston Limo directly. Unfortunately, the premium is not disclosed as it is cleverly hidden in the price.
  • Because you are1800BookALimoFast's client, and NOT A-1 Boston Limo's client, the service you receive may not be up to par.
  • If you have any troubles with the service, the internet broker has a slight control over the service; they don't own the cars or hire the chauffeurs. If A-1 Boston Limo gets an opportunity to service one of their “OWN” clients, you may be left hanging!

New Delhi Gets Limousine Services

I dont know much about India but I guess they don’t sell Bilsteins. All I know is that they will have a new service in their area and this they will surely love. Limousine Services maybe is only popular in the Su where they are hired to do services during weddings for they are also called as rent high-end super luxury cars for special occasions like anniversaries and birthdays. This limousine service may now be available in India.

Car Rental Company is planning to do more services extended to Indians who were found to be successful in terms of economic growth and are also willing to spend money for more comfortable services. This is perhaps because Indians are also into celebrations and they need a gorgeous car to celebrate these with.

Hertz India MD Rajiv K Vij told FE, "We plan to offer limousine service in India offering expensive cars like BMW 7-Series, Mercedes S-Class and Audi A8 along with customised services soon.”

"The whole idea is to provide a first-class service. We plan to offer a two-tier service option to customers that includes a basic package over and above which they can choose services as per various options available," Vij said. Vij was the one who said that the new business will be seen in India particularly in direct consumer area and that it will soon be in Delhi and Mumbai.

Both the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry are the options for the limousine services in India. These cars are only entry levels and they will only find out whether it will be a hit in India. He said, "A Camry or an Accord limousine could carry a charge of Rs 4,000-5,000 for a day while the BMW 7-Series or Mercedes S-Class could cost about Rs 15,000.” Along with the services, the car also has a towel and some mineral water as a part of the service. "The cahuffeur will be more like a guide who understands the city well and can take you through the city," he said, adding that the optional services could include Internet usage, chocolates, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages as taken from Financial Express early this morning.

"We would like to bring them in but currently there are no clear homologation rules for such cars to be brought in India," Vij said when he was asked about his plans to offer limousines which was extremely popular in the US. There are current regulations however that makes it unclear whether this service can also be available in India.

You have to be particular in terms of the limousine service you choose but of course you have to exert effort and time to assure that what you get is something that really can fit your budget. It very important for you to secure that what you get will give yourself the best service.

The limousine you should take may not wear VW bug parts accessories but make sure you follow these steps in order for you to choose the right kind of limousine service.

If you don’t get the right information, try asking some limousine companies for their list of referrals. By this, you will limit your preferences to only a few options and soon you’ll find the right limousine service you need. Find their numbers and call them for more information.

The back up plan must also be an important matter for you. Of course, you don’t want to worry about the day and then suddenly the limousine acts up. You have to make sure that back up service is something that you could have and still give you what you paid for. Try to know if the limousine service has the right back up service before trying to sign the deal. You must also see the type of limousine and the back up so you would know the service you are about to receive.

Be able to know the entire details of the contract before signing in. Be able to read specially the texts that are written in small letters that usually tellsabout  the not-so-positive sides of the limousine service. You also need to know the different specifications like the time of pick up, the destination, the service capacity, the deposit to be paid, the balance and its due, the type of payment and the like. Double check everything before signing the contract.

New Limo For The Conrad Bangkok

When it comes to pampering privileged people, hotels are expected to offer the best. In Bangkok, the "The Conrad Bangkok" has upgraded its services to its customers with the launch of its limousine fleet. Said fleet is composed of 18 new Mercedes-Benz S320 CDI and two Easy Riders.  These vehicles are acquired by the establishment as part of its "Exclusively S" concept for which The Conrad had earmarked 200 million baht.

According to this newsletter, "'Exclusively' has always been a word used to describe The Conrad Bangkok’s service style. The “S” stands for the new 18 Mercedes-Benz S320 CDI (New Model         W 221), the Mercedes-Benz SLK200 sports roadster (launched in November 2006) and the 2 new Easy Riders which are specially ordered city scooters."

Mr. Gregory Meadows, General Manger of The Conrad Bangkok has this to say:  "It was time to upgrade our limousines and we continually strive to enhance our guest’s experience, even before they arrive at our hotel. In Bangkok traffic, ample leg room and high-quality in-car entertainment are vital in relieving any stress, We believe our new Mercedes-Benz limousines will bring guests to our hotel in a relaxed and happy state. This is the very first impression that our guests get from our hotel and we want to be the one they remember."

"Our new scooter is the fun one and was actually suggested by our guests as the fastest way to get to the BTS. And we charge the same as a public motorcycle ride," added Mr. Meadows.

The launching of the limo service makes The Conrad even more appealing to customers, not that it wasn't appealing before the launch.  In fact, the hotel has already won lots of awards.  The reports cited the achievements of the hotel which is impressive indeed.  The report reads: "Business Traveller Asia-Pacific named the hotel ‘Bangkok’s Best Business Hotel 2006/2007’.  The hotel was also selected as ‘Thailand’s Leading Hotel’ at the 13th Annual World Travel Awards and was awarded ‘Best Conference Hotel in Asia’ by Smart Travel Asia in 2006. Malaysia To Replace Cabs With Limos

Cabs out, limousines in. Malaysian government sees that plan as clever.

According to Bernama, Malaysia intends to phase out budget and premier taxis plying the roads in the Klang Valley, replacing them with executive limousines.

Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) Chairman Datuk Markiman Kobiran was quoted as saying that the move would be implemented once the public transportation system has been upgraded. He added the move would take place in stages within the next 10 years.

According to Markiman, the CVLB is already freezing licenses for premier taxis and the operators of budget cabs have been told to upgrade their vehicles. The base rate of the executive limo is RM6 as compared to RM2 and RM4 budget cabs and premier taxis respectively.

Is the plan clever?

The plan drew criticism from dissenting consumers. Gurmukh Singh, a consumer and social activist, said at the RM6 base rate, the executive limousines are not for the lower income group as not all commuters in the Klang Valley can afford it.

"The moment you take your seat in a limousine, the fare meter reads RM6. Yes, the limousines maybe comfortable but not all Klang Valley residents are businessmen who can afford to pay the fare. Don't the authorities ever think of the handicapped? Most of them are poor. If they are well off, then they would not be taking the taxi ride," he noted.

Gurmukh said from past experience, the people could not solely rely on public transportation to move around. “Most of the public transport vehicles and their related facilities are not disabled-friendly,” he added. “For example if a wheelchair-bound person wants to get to the hospital, he can call for a budget cab and his wheelchair can be placed in the vehicle's boot.”

"We hardly find Rapid KL buses and Light Rail Transit (LRT) coaches being equipped with facilities for the handicapped," he said, adding that it would be very difficult for a crippled, what more a wheelchair-bound person to board a Rapid KL bus.

The federal government is shelling out RM10 billion over the new the next 3 to 4 years to upgrade public transportation in the Klang Valley. Putraline and Starline are the 2 LRT systems operating in the Klang Valley. Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd and Rapid KL have been entrusted by the government to improve the LRT services and put more buses on the roads.

Gurmukh said the RM6 base fare charged by limousines is exorbitant and would be a burden to the handicapped if the budget cabs are phased out. "It is a pity that when Malaysia is fast turning into a developed country, its public transportation facilities for the handicapped are still lacking," he said. "Therefore I hope the authorities would conduct a study first before phasing out the budget cabs and premier taxis and maybe reconsider their decision.”

Educationist Fatimah Mansur, meanwhile, lauded Markiman's statement that the CVLB is in the process of upgrading the taxi industry's quality of service. "But is there a guarantee that the public transport service has enough quality and the new system provides the public a service that commensurate with the amount of funds spent by the government?" she asked.

Fatimah also said a large number of taxi users are school children and housewives. Do not expect schoolchildren to be able to pay the limousine fare every time they need the cab service, she said.

According to Markiman, CVLB had begun discussions with taxi owners to replace their vehicles with the 2,000 cc executive taxis. "Much easier said than done," said Liu Meng Fong, the owner and operator of a budget taxi.

Liu said the transition would be quite easy for companies operating a fleet of taxis but not for individual taxi owners like him. "The move, if implemented would phase out taxi drivers like me as even now we barely earn enough money daily, considering the high gasoline price. They told us to upgrade our cabs, but this means we have to buy new limousines as the present budget cabs are of the 1,300 cc type.”

"Where to find the money to buy larger cars?" he asked. Lim said the move appear to benefit only the companies operating fleets of limousines.

"Improving the image of the taxi industry, yes. But is it really going to improve the service? The people on the street do not need to watch neither DVDs nor reading materials while they are taking a ride in the taxis. These are for the business people. Not for the school children or housewives. They only want to reach their destination safely and on time," concluded Fatimah.

Limo Service Raised Funds To Rescue Dogs

The image “http://editorial.jpress.co.uk/web/Upload/SKEG//TH1_1910200733Sk%20keith's%20mikey%20191007%20sg.JPG” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
Dogs are man's best friend so we should take care of them and that's what Mikey's Limo just did. In Europe, a record breaking event happened not long ago and it involved limousines and charity. At the said event, limo rental services attempted to break the world record for the longest queue of limousines. As part of the world record attempt, the organizers saw the event as a good way to raise funds for different charities.

The event was held in Blackpool in England. Reports put the number of limousines to have participated at the event at 124. Thus, a new world record was set and thousands of pounds have been raised. Individuals who wanted to participate in the world-record breaking event are encouraged to charter limousines going to the event. The money raised by limo services will be halved, one half will go to the mayor of Blackpool's chosen charity while the other half will go to the selected charity of the limo service owner.

For Mikey's American Limousines, the decision was easy. Steve and Colleen Grinhaff, owners of Mikey's American Limousines decide that their son Michael loves dogs, they would donate the money they have raised to Keith's Rescue Dogs, a charity involved in rescuing dogs and caring for them until they found a good home for the dogy's American Limousine donated a total of 225 pounds to Keith's which is definitely much more than what a Louisiana auto parts store would sell an auto component for. That amount will go a long way in caring for dogs which have been already rescued by the organization.

At the end of the day, the owners of Mikey's American Limousine not only help record set a world record but they have also helped in caring for man's best friend. The couple is not the only one who helped charities as the 123 other limo services who participated at the event have also donated the money that they have raised during the event.

Who Drives The Limo?

Of course it’s the chauffeur! But what separates the chauffer from any ordinary driver? Let’s all find out!

The chauffeur is the one who drives a vehicle as a means of livelihood. The sophisticated term may refer to anyone who drives for a living for it typically means a driver of a luxury sedan… specifically, a limousine. So the difference is, those who drive non-luxury cars are merely called as "drivers" (as in bus, taxi drivers etc.).

In various countries, mostly progressing nations where supplies are all set and labor guarantees that still the average class can manage to pay for household personnel and along with the well-off who keep away from showing off, the chauffeur may basically be called the "driver."

People at times hire chauffeurs in a full time basis to drive them in their own vehicles, or there are some special services offer limousines which include the chauffeurs for rent.

The requirements needed to be a chauffeur differ on a case-to-case basis or depending on the location. The majority of the requirements are recognized on a state or municipality rank. In addition to a ordinary driver's license, some areas need a chauffeur to get an extra license, and to meet up driving experience requirements and definite least age.
