A Once In A Lifetime Limousine RideDecember 3, 2007
Abigail Feeney is an Edmunds Elementary third grader and she rides a different vehicle instead of the yellow school bus or her parents' car. Now she will be riding the big red truck. When asked, she said, "I was just very excited."
She was one among the selected kids to compete at the Vermont Fire Safety calendar which happens every year. The third graders were asked to do a project where they would submit pictures of fire safety tips.
"I drew a building on fire and I said stop, drop and roll," Abigail explained.
13 of Abigail's photographs were chosen to be on the main pages of the calendar. These 13 pictures also received honors and were placed on the page allotted for honorable mentions. The Burlington Fire Department collaborated with Edmunds Elementary school in order to pursue this project.
Amy Donahue was the first one to know after Abigail won. "I said, I won the fire truck contest, and I asked her if she wanted to go with me,” Abigail said. “I asked my mom, and she said yes," explained Amy.
She was one among the eight finalists to ride the fire limousine. "Third graders are starting to really understand what it's about, and so we focus on this age group with a little more realism. And these posters are a great way for them to learn," explained Tom Middleton, the Burlington Asst. Fire Marshal.
"She was thrilled, it was great. She did a great job with the poster, and it was nice that she recognized the importance of stop, dropping and rolling. And the kids at the school are very excited about it as well," said Dan Feeney Abigail's father.

We may think that limousines are those which have long bodies and expensive car parts but Wikipedia has a different definition of the limousine.
A limousine is also known as the limo. You are right; this is an unusually long luxury car which is usually painted with white or black interior. There are also some which has pink, magenta or blue but usually, limos are found to have the two basic colors. Limos are really expensive; they are usually owned by wealthy people and driven by chauffeurs. Limousines are usually associated with being rich and wealthy.
Limousines are also usually owned by the government. This is used to transport politicians and other important government persons like executives, guests and other important personalities. They are really expensive and some even regard it as an elegant car.
The word limousine is from the French word Limousin, which is a region in France. It is also taken from the word that defines long cloaks once worn by the shepherds there.

Limo Alcohol Ban RevokedDecember 11, 2007
If you have been following this blog, you might have had encountered that post about a ban on drinking alcoholic beverages on limos in Canada. That is really such a bummer as limos are hired for special occasions. Recently though, the said legislation prohibiting booze on limousines have been repealed. This is a good development especially with the holiday season just around the corner. According to the Calgary Sun, the ban has been lifted after careful examination of the law. Aldermen have debated that the legislation might dampen the festive season. Ald. Diane Colley-Urquhart had this to say: "There was not a lot of opportunity to bring all the stakeholders together but we did a comprehensive phone survey and the majority of those in the industry do what to have alcohol back again." "This was a burden to some extent on the industry and with (this) vote we will remedy that situation," she added. According to the report, the policy will only be changed on stretch limousines with a barrier between the driver and the passengers. Furthermore, passengers would have to request permission from the driver if they can drink alcoholic beverages at the back of limousines. Drivers of course, need to have a special license to be able to chauffeur passengers who are looking to consume alcoholic beverages while inside the limo. Not everybody though agreed with the change in the policy. Alderman Dale Hodges said: "I just don’t think agreeing with the limousine lobby is a good idea all the time. I think it’s always problematic if you allow alcohol of a vehicle, whichever portion of a vehicle." But even with his objections, the change in policy will be effective immediately as sure as Saturn L300 parts are made reliable.

We usually say that limousines are to rich people since these type of cars are driven and owned by the most wealthy people of the world. Executives, VIPs, political figures and highly influential personalities are the ones you can see riding on these limousines. This makes an impression that the limousine is the most luxurious car. A simple alternator is really expensive. Not everybody can afford to buy one.
But what if you lose a limousine in a car accident? To rich people, this may be nothing but if the passengers are injured, well I guess human lives are more important than the expensive car, right?
In the recent report, six people were injured in a limousine accident last Monday. The news says, the accident happened when a motorist accidentally crashed on the limousine with passengers on board. The speedy motorist was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The incident happened at the Bay Park roadway, the police reported.
When the limousine driver made a left turn coming from southbound Morena Boulevard onto eastbound Jellett Street about 9 p.m. Sunday night, he saw a vehicle speeding towards him. This is according to San Diego police Sgt. Bob Dare.
The accident injured five limousine passengers including the two who suffered skull fractures, said Dare. The limousine driver didn’t receive many injuries according to the news however, the motorist was drinking prior to his drive.
